Pavel Sticha (DGPh) was born on 31 May 1942 in Poděbrady near Prague. After leaving grammar school,
he explored the mysteries of photography with Prof. Ludvík Baran and Otakar Polívka in Prague. His
career as photojournalist began on the Prague newspaper "Svoboda" ("Freedom"). In 1968 after moving
to Berlin, where he still lives and works, he continued to photograph for German and international
papers, magazines photo agencies and tour operators. As a photography and a journalist, Pavel Sticha
has travelled in over 50 countries throughout the world.
His photographs have figured in numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad. His works also figure in numerous public
and private collections in Germany and throughout the world.

Pavel Sticha was elected a member of the German Photographic Association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie – DGPh)
and has received numerous awards including the First Prize of the Czechoslovakian Association of Journalists 1967, and
the 1983 First Prize of the International Biennial for Humorist and Satirical Art held in Gabrovo, Bulgaria.
Pavel Sticha has also presented his work to a broader public in a wide range of photo books.

In the early 90s Pavel Sticha set up his own independent publishing company in Berlin. Edition P. & P. Sticha, Berlin
now has a rich catalogue of books, calendars and post cards focused on the Berlin-Brandenburg region. Pavel Sticha also
photographs and publishes photo books on leading Berlin personalities in government, industry, sport and the arts.
His "Berlin & Sanssouci" photo album on the German capital and the Sanssouci palace and its park in Potsdam
is an official gift of the State Government of Berlin presented to visiting heads of state. Pavel Sticha’s customers include
names like Audi, BMW, BVG, CC-Bank, Charité, DeTeWe, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Post, DIFA, Fußballverband Berlin,
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, JAL, Lufthansa, Messe Berlin, Quantas, Schering, Sony and VW.
